Hi all,

So my car is in for a service and MOT today. So far in the service the only thing to come up has been a damaged airbox lid. The service manager said they don't see a pressing need to fix it, so recommend I don't spend the £70 odd to fix it. But I thought if I can get one myself and replace it perhaps that might worth doing if it's less than £70.

Does anyone know what the part number would be for a 68 plate petrol engined airbox lid?

It will be stamped on the part itself. I would suggest you take a look under the bonnet.

Well now I feel very silly...

I was literally just under there checking my fluids etc post service to make sure things had been done (Last time Johnsons did a "service" they hadn't bothered with half the stuff they listed as done... Thankfully Stourbridge Mazda seem to be a bit more diligent)

But also the damage defiantly looks like a cack-handed attempt to force the lid back on, but also looks minor so probably just going leave it like the Service manager at Stourbridge Mazda suggested.

Is this the item? Doubt if you can get it shipped from the USA but you might find another EU site that stocks it. Best of luck

You are better off buying a complete used airbox off eBay. Plenty from about £40 upwards. Then you can probably just swap the lid.

In my experience vehicle techs can sometimes be overzealous with electric screwdrivers and other tools, causing damage to plastic parts and not always owning up!

Yep that's the badger. Thanks for the link!

Although I might also have a look on ebay or at a local breakers as Percy247 has suggested. I saw some on eBay with a mass airflow sensor still attached that were about 40 quid.
