There are lots of posts/videos on social media about the Mazda water jet pump(s) failing.

However I decided to investigate the plumbing first. There is a check-valve in the plastic hoses between the pump and the first nozzle. Access is by removing the wipers and the drivers side (UK) bulkhead cover (just a few clips).

Apparently you cannot 'test' the valve by blowing through it, so I used a tyre foot-pump. This was inconclusive.

So I got a new valve at Halfords and that has fixed it!

Thought I would share as a lot easier than getting at the water bottle mounted pump.

Be careful not to touch/damage the exposed edge of the windscreen when the cover is removed, in case it triggers an existing screen weakness.

Thanks for the advice. I have an issue where the flow from the nozzles is severely restricted. On finding the check valve and checking the flow either side, it appears this is causing the issue.
To get at the check valve I took off the lower grommets to the plastic shroud, disconnected the washer pipe at the connector before it enters the shroud and then pulled the pipe from underneath. It's about 10cm further along the pipe. However when reconnecting I've also swapped the position of the ordinary connector with the check valve so that the valve is positioned just before entering the shroud and readily accessible.
Halfords didn't have a replacement so I've ordered on line.
