Sadly I've now sold my CX3, as various issues, mainly electrical and corrosion, have finally pushed me to moving on to another car.

Shame really, as I liked the CX3 despite initially finding the seat uncomfortable, but the above issues particularly the increasing appearance of corrosion lifting the paint on certain panels didn't give me confidence in the car for another three years intended ownership.

I’d be interested to hear what electrical issues you experienced. I’ve had a number of niggles like key fob battery failure producing odd starting behaviours and earlier this year I replaced the battery due to various warning lights suddenly flashing etc.

I'm coming to the end of my first year of ownership and like you I like the car itself. It's fun to drive, I like the looks of it, the spec is good. But I think I'll be aiming to move it on within the next year or so. I've got a rusty spot that's developed on the roof and little bits of corrosion in various places (around some bits under the bonnet and around fittings on the boot). I'm going to see a body shop to find out how much it would be get them sorted.

But the main problem I have with it is the bad taste that Johnsons Swindon and Solihull left in my mouth with the purchasing experience and subsequently dealing with them to have issues corrected. The last straw was them mucking me around when the coolant control valve went meaning I had to freeze during the cold snap last winter while they mucked around trying to diagnose a problem that clearly conformed to the TSB for the coolant control valve. Total cowboys!

I'm considering a CX-5 as an upgrade, but I will never buy a car from Johnsons or an associated dealership ever again. They've managed to annoy me to the point where I've actively turned people off from buying cars from them. So far managed to convince 5 people at work to get their new cars from different dealerships... 😂 This was on top of my parents deciding to not get a new CX-80 from Johnsons.

In my ownership the car has needed a new battery, capacitor and DC to DC converter to resolve issues with the i-loop, a new offside wing mirror motor and door lock to fix issues with offside wing mirror folding when it shouldn't, and more lately problem's with 'shadows' appearing on certain pages of the infomat screen, along with the the radio forgetting which channel it was set to prior to the ignition being turned off, and or, which infomat page it was last displaying.

Sounds very similar to the issues I was having. In my case the main dealer I bought the car from repaired the first appearance of corrosion (on the tailgate) at their expense shortly after I bought it as goodwill. However 20 months on and the corrosion started to reappear in the same place along with the other areas you have mentioned, so it got me thinking if the steel used in some of the panels was of substandard quality.
