I went back to the dealership today to have a tiny clip fitted to the back of the wing mirror glass.
Unfortunately when removing the glass to fit the new clip, the clip that controls the side to side movement, they damaged one of the other clips, the one that controls the up and down movement ..... and of course they didnt have one in stock, so another one will have to be ordered. ..... and so I still cant adjust the mirror.
As I live 20 miles away from the dealership they suggested that they could send someone to collect the car and deliver it back to me after the job was done. I suggested that it would be easier if the technician came as well, and he could fit the clip (its a 5 minute job, and no equipment or workshop is needed) on my driveway. No need to move the car, but I was told that the technician is only insured whilst on the dealership premises, and should he fall and break his leg whilst off site, he will have no insurance cover.
So, welcome to the modern world.

2016 Mazda 2 Sport Nav 1.5 Skyactiv Diesel.
3rd trip back to have the replacement to the 2nd damaged clip fitted and the ham fisted fitter managed to damage it again as they were fitting it. So now its groudhog day as they have to get authority from Mazda extended guarantee to order yet another one, and I will have to return yet again for its fitting. About 80 miles covered so far, I feel sorry for the guy on the desk who has to relay all this bad news to me, its not his fault, its the fault of the dealership and their stock management protocols.
I called Mazda about this and they told me that dealerships are not run by Mazda, they are independent franchises, and if I wish to make a complaint it should be directed at the dealer and not Mazda. I think it is called passing the buck.
When this is finally over I will write to both Mazda and the dealer expressing my displeasure at this Laurel and Hardy style clusterfxck. If they bother to reply it will of course be the usual generic "sorry, your business is important to us, we will take your comments onboard etc.etc."
The car has been faultless over the 7 years I have had it, not one warning light, failed bulb or failed anything but this experience at the dealership has convinced me to sell this car as soon as possible. At 7 years old things are bound to start failing and whether they be minor or serious if the dealer cant fix the tiniest of problems in a timely and efficient manner then what hope for a more involving fix. The dealership is starting to look a bit forlorn these days, they sell Fords as well, and during the 3 visits there I have yet to see a customer showing interest in a new model. Its all servicing and repairs, and looking at the prices of the new models on show I am not at all surprised.
So my mind is made up.
Soon it will be bye bye Mazda, it has been mostly nice knowing you, and hello Lexus, for I have my eyes on a nice low mileage UX.
