Pulling my hair out here, just wondered if anyone can point me in the right direction, 🤞
1.5D sky active, 2016.
Does anyone know if the Water control valve (S550-1516Z) can be opened and have the thermostat replaced?
Mazda say no, but it looks like I can but a thermostat for it.
Any advice is great fully received.

Mazda UK will tell you it's not because they want to sell you a new coolant control valve. Have you tried a independent Mazda specialist for possibly a slightly less biased point of view?

For a tenner it's got to be worth ago but I would have a plan B in place before you start taking things apart and draining coolant systems etc.

Is the part shared with any other cars (Ford or Mazda)? I assume you have tried looking for a used part?

Sometimes these modern car parts are non repairable but it's always worth checking.

A few years ago the rotary dial went on our integral Bosch microwave. Bosch wanted £130 for a complete motherboard. Sod that I thought and bought the same rotary dial from an older model for £8 that they told me would not fit. It did and is still working years later.
