Hi all, I wonder if anyone has any advice, I was trying to remove the MAP/temperature sensor fitted into the plastic inlet manifold and the head of the screw snapped straight off with hardly any pressure on it, I have managed to rig a metal plate to keep it held in but it is literally only held in by carbon deposits and the metal plate in that it refused to come out with a light wiggle after the screw head snapped off. Does anyone have any ideas about what to do next to replace the screw and sensor.

Can you post a photo? Sounds like you need to drill out the screw thread with a HSS bit and the refit the MAP sensor with a slightly larger diameter screw.mr_chris79 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 5:31 pm Hi all, I wonder if anyone has any advice, I was trying to remove the MAP/temperature sensor fitted into the plastic inlet manifold and the head of the screw snapped straight off with hardly any pressure on it, I have managed to rig a metal plate to keep it held in but it is literally only held in by carbon deposits and the metal plate in that it refused to come out with a light wiggle after the screw head snapped off. Hi Percy thanks for your reply, I would need to either completely remove the plastic inlet manifold to drill it out or a right angle drill because there's not enough room between it and the radiator for a normal hand drill. It's the T25 torx head screw that holds the sensor in the manifold.

That inlet air temp sensor is a nightmare to remove at the best of times. I remember using a tiny ratchet with a bit holder and it was still hard to access.
Removing the manifold will be a big job. If the right angled drill fails then I would probably look at bodging it with some black silicon sealant!
